Interim Pastor Don Engel

 

Pastor Don was baptized and confirmed in Christ Lutheran Church, Rhein, Saskatchewan. He attended elementary school in Rhein and High School in Yorkton and Luther College in Regina. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Saskatchewan and Master of Divinity at Lutheran Theological Seminary, both in Saskatoon. Before ordination he served as Lutheran chaplain at Regina Campus of University of Saskatchewan 1969-70.

1972-79 Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, Kipling, and St. John's      Lutheran Church, Wapella, Saskatchewan,

1972-86 Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Brandon, Manitoba,

1986-2004 Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, Winnipeg 

2004 Retired,

2004 Interim Pastor, Whitemouth and Riverhills,

2005 Interim Pastor, Church of Saint Stephen and Saint Bede,      Winnipeg

2007 Pastor, First Lutheran Church during pastor's sabbatical

2008-10 Interim Pastor, Lutheran Church of the Cross, Winnipeg

2010-15 Interim Pastor, St. John's Lutheran Church, Winnipeg 

2011 Pastor, Messiah Lutheran Church during pastor's sabbatical

2012 Pastor, St. Luke Zion Lutheran Church during pastor's          sabbatical

2014-15 Assistant Pastor, Grace Lutheran Church during pastor's      parental leave,

2015 Pastor, First Lutheran Church during pastor's sabbatical

2016- Interim Pastor, Lutheran Church of the Cross

 

Pastor Don has also served on ELCC Church Council and ELCC secretary, Boards of Congregational Life and  Social Service, MNO Synod Council, 

Luther Village Board, MNO Synod Merger Task Force, ELCIC Board of Parish Life, Sacramental Practises Commission, member and chair of ELCIC Worship Committee, conference dean, chaplain of Luther Home, Board of Luther Home, Luther Home Fund Raising Committee, Trinity Food Pantry Board and  many planning teams for national and synod assemblies and worship conferences.

 

Pastor Don is married to Donna, has three children and seven grandchildren.  He loves fishing, hiking, bike riding, reading, gardening and holidaying in Costa Rica.
